Studio B Performing Arts Center is excited to announce the upcoming Teen Summer Intensive Workshop of “SWEENEY TODD”. This six week workshop is designed specifically for ages 12 and up and will replace all former teen workshops at Studio B including “American Idol” and “Teen Cabaret”. Studio B is combining these workshops to bring this exciting opportunity to teens interested in theater.
During the “SWEENEY TOOD” workshop, students will take part in every aspect of putting on the show including learning about stage make up, building and painting sets, making props, costuming, acting, vocals and choreography. The workshop will end in six performances of “Sweeney Todd” and every student that registers will get a part in the show.
This musical thriller, created by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, is chilling, suspenseful and heart-pounding all at the same time. “Sweeney Todd” tells the tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to his London home only to find his wife and daughter missing. He begins to seek revenge on the judge who framed him and his young wife. His thirst for revenge expands to unsuspecting customers. The resourceful meat pie shop owner downstairs from his shop, Mrs. Lovett, helps him dispense of the evidence.
Auditions for parts will be held during the first week of class. Pre-registration is required because spots are filling up fast. The tuition is $400 and a payment plan is available. Workshop dates are June 8-12 from 1-6:30 p.m., June 15-18 from 1-6:30 p.m., June 19 from 4-9 p.m., June 22 from 4-9 pm. June 23-26 from 9-5, June 29-July 2 from 9-5, July 6-9 from 9-5. Performances are July 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 & 19-7:30 on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 on Sundays.
